In the entire country and In Pitambare Institute of IAS, Latur, Students are getting ready for the upcoming UPSC Prelim. Some are ready with their basics, some are ready with their tests and mocks, and others are ready with their PYQS as well. Some are there who are in their revision phase right now. They are waiting for the D Day so that they can give their best. As we all know, everything comes down to one thing only, The Exam Day!! However, there will be some students who haven’t taken some mocks, or they are somehow weak in their basics. Furthermore, the PYQS are not being solved yet. Here, these students are in a hurry to finish things up early.
This blog is for those students who think that they have not given their best this year, but still want to clear the Prelim.
Certainly, you can do it!!! There is still time. Don’t worry.
With experience of more than a decade in this field, I am attempting to give certain important techniques to be used in the upcoming days. Treat these as important last resorts, they will help you for sure.
TRUST YOUR PREPARATION: When it comes to the final days of the examination, many of the students start having doubts about their strategy or team or preparation. Here, you have to give resolve to yourself and tell yourself that you have given your best and prepared well. You are going to clear the examination. Look at the brighter side instead of the dark one so that you can clear this exam with ease. Follow your instincts.
PYQ PAPER SOLVING SKILLS: Now this is the time where you have to revise previous year question papers multiple times. See the paper pattern, extreme words, and lengthy statements.
Try to identify glitches in the paper. For example, “Contemporaries based questions are generally given wrong.”
We at Pitambare Institute of IAS, Latur, practice these things on a regular basis with the help of PYQS only.
Like these, you can identify the paper pattern with multiple revisions.
The role of knowledge will plateau after a point in time, here you have to go with certain extra efforts, those are PAPER SOLVING SKILLS.
REVISE MULTIPLE TIMES: Revision plays a very crucial role in one’s preparation. Always remember, your revision is going to revive you. However simple that topic may be, revise at least two times in these days. You will definitely clear the UPSC examination.
Your pattern of revision should be based on the examination pattern.
IDENTIFY THEMES: Based on your PYQ analysis, identify major themes that you can revise multiple times. For example, a Comparison between Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and Directive principles of State Policy is an important theme for UPSC Prelim.
You can identify at least 30 themes like themes in these 30 days and revise them multiple times. You will at least get a net of 20 Marks from these themes only.
NO NEW DATA: A very important aspect these days. Now you should focus on the existing material that you have read at least once. Here, there is no need to add additional PDFS, data or pages in your notes. Enough is enough. Just revise the material you have. That will be sufficient. And, as pointed out earlier, revise multiple times. It will give you immense confidence.
SLEEP WELL: Sleep is the most important thing you should be focusing on right now. Many students make the mistake of sacrificing sleep during these examination days. You should strictly avoid that. Sleep at least 7 to 8 hours. It will automatically restore the data you have consumed during the day. This creates a calm mind, and you become a relaxed but focused person, which is needed for this examination.
MEDITATION AND VISUALISATION OF THE DAY: Whenever you are meditating, your sleep will automatically be covered in case it is less. Visualising the examination day will help you keep your heartbeat in control, and it will eventually help you to perform your best in the examination. You have to visualise the day right from the moment you wake up. It will help you to clear the examination with ease.
At Pitambare Institute of IAS, Latur, we take regular Meditation sessions that help students to score well in examinations as well. It also enhances your personality.
Apart from these, certain basic tips like a small intake of food, Adequate drinking water and managing your day in a proper fashion will eventually help you to tighten up your preparation for UPSC Prelim.
Best of luck with your preparation, and always remember that you have it in you; you just have to find it with a smile.
